The international project Danube Dance Alliance takes contemporary dance out of traditional centers and connects it with architecture, immersive technology, and, above all, the community. Through collaboration between artists, the creative team, and local stakeholders, five dance performances have been created, inviting audiences in Trbovlje, Velenje, Svetvinčenat, Belgrade, and Sarajevo into an abandoned chimney, a former coal mine, a deserted swimming pool, a fountain, and a park—actively involving them in co-creating the experience.

Each choreography is tailored to the community in which it was created, while all five are connected by a common thread that weaves their future through the memories of these spaces. At the same time, the performances have also been developed in a 360° environment. With the help of modern immersive technology, the individual performances will be able to travel between countries, fostering deeper understanding between cultures and contributing to greater accessibility of contemporary dance in the Danube region. The co-production brings together more than 11,000 creators and representatives of local communities who have left their mark on the final performances.

The dance performances were created by internationally recognized choreographers Nik Rajšek, Aleksandar Ilić, Maša Kolar, Ognjen Vučinić, and Branko Mitrović, in collaboration with an artistic board led by Mojca Majcen. The VR film was directed by the Slovenian director and dancer Enya Belak.
