What makes an inclusive cycling destination work in practice?
Inclusive Cross-Border Cycling Final Conference
How can cycling destinations become accessible, inclusive, and attractive to all visitors? How can local providers, services, and stories be connected into a comprehensive tourism experience that remains sustainable in the long term, even after project funding ends? These and many other current questions will be addressed at the Inclusive Border Cycling (IBC) final confrence: “What makes an inclusive cycling destination work in practice?”
You are warmly invited to join us on 23 June 2026 in Harkány. Participation will also be possible online.
The event will present the key results of the project and open a discussion on how cycling routes can evolve into high-quality and inclusive tourism experiences. Special emphasis will be placed on the development of user-friendly services, cooperation between local stakeholders, inclusion of vulnerable target groups, and the use of digital solutions to improve accessibility and user experience.
As part of the programme, experts and partners from different European countries will address topics such as:
✨ how cycling routes become experiences with narrative and identity,
✨ how to connect fragmented tourism offers into coherent and bookable services,
✨ how to design inclusive tourism products for different target groups,
✨ and how to transfer project results into long-term regional development models.
The conference will also serve as a space for networking, exchange of good practices, and reflection on the future of sustainable and inclusive cycling tourism in the Danube region and beyond. On the day after the conference, a study tour along the Drava River will be organised, allowing participants to experience inclusive cycling in practice.
