Brussels, 9–13 June 2026 – The New European Bauhaus Festival 2026, the European Union’s flagship event dedicated to connecting sustainability, culture, innovation, and inclusive development, took place in Brussels from 9 to 13 June 2026.
We are delighted and proud that two contributions linked to the work of Iskriva Institute were featured in the festival programme.
Mateja Softić participated in the online seminar “Creating a New Contemporary: NEB-led Research and Tools for Cultural Heritage Management”, held within the framework of the INHERIT project. She presented approaches and tools for the sustainable management of cultural heritage using the example of the Old Ironworks in Ravne na Koroškem. The contribution highlighted the importance of linking heritage, sustainable development, and local communities in shaping new development opportunities in line with the principles of the New European Bauhaus.
A significant part of the festival programme also featured the artistic performance by D. Dance Alliance, a partner of Iskriva Institute, with the dance production TOUCH, choreographed by Igor Kirov and Mojca Majcen and performed by Ema Bates and Endi Schrotter. The performance explored, through movement, the power of human touch and connection—values closely aligned with the mission of the New European Bauhaus.
A recording of the performance TOUCH can be viewed in the video below (from 1:17:28 onwards).
Participation in the New European Bauhaus Festival confirms the importance of linking research, cultural heritage, the arts, and sustainable development in creating higher-quality living environments for everyone.
