The project will build on solutions that are already successfully established in the destination. Klet Brda, for example, already offers a sensory wine tasting designed for blind, visually impaired and sighted visitors who want to experience wine in a different way. During the 90-minute programme, visitors explore the wine cellar through storytelling, scents and touch, followed by a sensory tasting of four wines accompanied by local delicacies. The experience was also developed in cooperation with blind and visually impaired people and is an excellent example of how accessibility can create a more authentic and immersive experience for everyone.

The Experiences for All the Senses project will connect and build on such existing solutions to create two comprehensive tourism experiences. The first product will bring together the winemaking traditions of the Northern Primorska region, the natural attractions of the Karst, and authentic local experiences. The second, cross-border product will connect the Slovenian offer with the exceptional cultural heritage of the UNESCO-listed area of Aquileia.
The project focuses on three key areas: accessibility, digitalisation and sustainability. We will carry out systematic accessibility assessments at 15 tourism providers and train 30 employees and tourism professionals in accessible tourism. Together with accessibility experts and non-governmental organisations working in the field, we will identify opportunities to improve facilities, services and the overall visitor experience. The project will also produce accessible digital promotional materials, including audio content and QR codes.
Another important step will be connecting with international markets. The new products will be presented to foreign travel agencies specialising in accessible tourism, which will be invited to join a promotional familiarisation tour of the destination. Our aim is to establish concrete partnerships with international sales channels and enable the accessible tourism offer of the Goriška region and western Slovenia to reach new audiences.
The project is being implemented by tourism agency Bagueri Brda as the lead partner and Fondazione Aquileia, the organisation responsible for managing the UNESCO heritage of Aquileia, together with local tourism providers and partners specialising in accessibility. Following the completion of the project, Bagueri Brda will incorporate the two products into its regular offer, while Fondazione Aquileia will contribute to the delivery and marketing of the cross-border product.
The activities will run from July 2026 to March 2027. Our ultimate goal, however, goes beyond developing two new tourism products. We aim to establish long-term cooperation between tourism providers, accessibility organisations and international partners, thereby making accessible tourism a lasting and integral part of the tourism offer in the Goriška region and western Slovenia.
