We are proud to share that two of Iskriva Institute’s projects, The New European Bauhaus on the Danube NEB Lab (NEBoD) and International Border Cycling, have been designated as EUSDR PA3 Danube Strategy flagship projects on November 3, 2025, during the 14th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

Danube Strategy flagships are initiatives that contribute to implementing the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), demonstrating a clear macro-regional impact and a strong multi-level governance approach. These projects play a crucial role in fostering the Danube Region’s economic, social, and territorial cohesion, while improving the overall quality of life across the region.

NEBoD is one of the community-led New European Bauhaus Labs, supported by the European Commission, and demonstrates how the values and principles of the New European Bauhaus can be put into practice through concrete, place-based projects. Acting as a “think-and-do tank”, NEBoD works with cities and regions across the Danube area to strengthen their capacity to initiate and implement investments in responsible land-use practices, paving the way for a greener and fairer economy. Since 2024, NEBoD has been realising its vision through several initiatives, including NONA – New Governance for New Spaces, its flagship project co-funded by the Interreg Danube Programme.

International Border Cycling promotes sustainable cross-border mobility and active tourism by developing and connecting cycling routes that cross or run along national borders in the Danube Region with a special focus on seniors and deprivileged youth. The initiative highlights border areas as shared spaces of cooperation, culture, and nature, encouraging people to experience the Danube as a unifying element rather than a dividing line. Through coordinated planning, infrastructure improvements, and joint promotion, the project supports local economies, environmentally friendly transport, and intercultural exchange, contributing directly to the EUSDR objectives of sustainable connectivity, tourism development, and regional cohesion.

With both projects, Iskriva Institute continues to strengthen its role as a key actor in promoting sustainable, inclusive, and innovative development across the Danube Region. These flagship recognitions reaffirm the institute’s long-standing commitment to cross-border collaboration, environmental responsibility, and community-driven transformation.
